This show celebrates the release of Lief Hall's new single and music video "Roses for Ruins". The single will be released both digitally and as a cassette tape, the first song released from her upcoming album due out this April.

Lief Hall is a musician, multi-media installation and performance artist whose dark electronic pop incorporates layered vocal harmonies, extended and digitally altered voice. Performing songs from her upcoming album, including her new single “Roses for Ruins” Lief Hall will be accompanied by Elisa Thorn on harp and Kevin Romain on drums.

Kellarissa

Kellarissa is Larissa Loyva, a classically-trained Vancouver singer and synthesizer experimentalist who uses a loop pedal to expound on simple chord structures to create intricate pop songs. Her subject matter includes the vastness of the Universe, the mysteries of nature and the compelling beckoning of the sea.

While honing her skills playing in groups such as p:ano, Fake Tears, How to Dress Well, and Destroyer, Larissa has released three solo albums on Mint Records: Flamingo (2009, Mint Records), Moon of Neptune (2011) and Ocean Electro (March 2018).

The Nausea

The Nausea is a project by Anju Signh in which she uses the violin to create compositions which layer and distort into visceral soundscapes. Incorporating element of drone and dark metal her work brings the textural and timbral qualities of music to the forefront where melancholy meets noise.

Matthew Ariaratnam is a sound artist, composer, guitarist, and improviser whose work has been presented and supported by CBC, Vancouver New Music, Vancouver Pro Musica, The Vancouver Foundation, PuSH Festival, Richmond Art Gallery, Vines Art Festival, and Co.Crea.Tive. His interdisciplinary collaborative practice with dance and theatre has lead him to show work in Toronto, Vancouver, Los Angeles, and Seattle. Selections of his work have been published with The Mad Times, based in Toronto, and Egress Mag, based in Ottawa & Fredericton. He has an MFA from Simon Fraser University and an Honours BMus in Composition from Wilfrid Laurier University.
